Abu Dhabi to host National Day experiences and spectacular fireworks displays

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, alongside government and private sector partners, promise an unforgettable line-up of family-friendly events, entertainment and activities for the UAE’s 46th National Day

To celebrate the spirit of the union Abu Dhabi is planning music, fireworks and a host of other exciting activities to mark the 46th anniversary of the formation of the UAE.

Residents and visitors of all ages to join in the exciting line-up taking place throughout the Emirate between Saturday, November 28 and Saturday, December 5.

HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director General of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said: “We invite all UAE residents and visitors to join us in celebrating this historic milestone as we introduce events and celebrations that will focus on the UAE’s rich heritage and help bring together people of different nationalities in a celebration of the country’s cultural diversity.”

The Department is organising spectacular fireworks and musical performances at multiple locations across the Emirate, along the entire 1.5km Abu Dhabi Corniche, as well as at the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, Al Wathba, Hili Fun City, Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain and the Cultural Center in Al Dhafra region.

The display will begin with the national anthem and words from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founder of the UAE, and fireworks lighting up the sky, in sync with music, from 9pm on both Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd December.

There will also be performances, including a waterfront promenade at Al Maryah Island’s waterfront that will transform into a traditional setting, reflecting the essence of 70s and 80s era. UAE flags will line the promenade and fireworks will light up the night sky with national colours. Traditional dishes will be available at live cooking stations, and live performances and Emirati inspired fair games will keep the family entertained.

Al Ain Municipality is conducting various activities at Hili Fun City in Al Ain this year, and the events will include theatrical performances featuring national scenes and artistic presentations with laser shows, food trucks, entertaining activities and water games for children.

Al Forsan, the aerobatics demonstration team of the UAE Air Force, will put on a spectacular air show at 4.30pm on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2. This year is particularly special as F-16 and Mirage 2000 aircrafts will be part of the show for the very first time.

Major malls will also be joining in the celebrations by staging several family-friendly, social, cultural and entertainment activities; from henna and calligraphy, to live music, flag making and face painting. There will also be exclusive offers and chances to win special prizes.
