Bubbalicious brunch: like a wedding every Friday
Brunch. It’s like a wedding every Friday. The re-launch of Bubbalicious at The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa boasts an imaginative order of service (menu).
It’s unsurprising it was a sell out, with guests returning from Dubai to enjoy the family-friendly affair. The hotel also offers a brunch and stay package for those who want to make a weekend of it.
The presentation is thoughtful: glass bowls of colourful salad leaves, fresh oysters piled high and a pretty sweet station to rival Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.
We tried out the VIP brunch, which comes with free-flowing Moet & Chandon and a private bar and bar tender to look after your every cocktail whim. An off-the menu vodka cocktail was a refreshing alternative to Pimm’s – liberally served with soda water, ice, a hint of peach and garnished with berries and orange slices.
Congratulations to the happy buffet that included roasted endive, pumpkin and spinach penne and melt in the mouth roasted beef. The roasted meat selection was huge (leg of lamb, rib eye beef, whole rump of beef) and featured the British favourite – Yorkshire pudding. Fresh Norwegian salmon was also a hit, as was the sushi station. Children were well-catered for with the usual pizza, chicken nuggets and a face painting area.
The cheese selection was enormous and satisfying with delicate chive crackers to accompany them. Some guests may find the amount of mini sweet treats on offer overwhelming, pace yourself with chocolate pot de cream, a dreamy whipped ganache and vanilla choux.
The party was complete with a singer guitarist supplying a medley or old and new chart hits that had people dancing round the tables – Free falling (Tom Petty), Wonderwall (Oasis) and Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond). Entertainment also included an illustrator weaving round the tables and whipping up caricatures.
We wish Mr and Mrs Fairways a long and prosperous life ahead, full of joy and laughter. They have a great location to enjoy a bright future together.
