Deaf Men Dancing come to Dubai Opera

The UK/UAE 2017 Year of Creative Collaboration in partnership with Deaf Men Dancing, a unique and exciting dance company consisting of all-male, professional deaf dancers, will make their UAE debut presenting a special production titled “Embrace.”

The performance will take place at the Dubai Opera Promenade on November 6, 2017 from 6 – 7pm.

‘Embrace’, which is the creation of Deaf Men Dancing’s founder & artistic director, Mark Smith, in collaboration with Dr Ray Batchelor, a Tango Teacher for D/deaf CAN Dance!, tells the story of two strangers who meet for the first time and discover that the only way they are able to embrace each other is through tango and sign language.

The performance will be coupled with workshops on the November 5 and 6 with Sharjah Mime, a group of deaf Mime performers in the UAE.

“Deaf Men Dancing is delighted to be invited to perform ‘Embrace’ in Dubai. I hope this will be the first of many visits,” Deaf Men Dancing’s artistic director, Mark Smith, said.
