Open auditions begin for Dubai musical in September

Singers, dancers and actors are invited to open auditions for a new professional musical opening at the Madinat Theatre @ Souq Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai in September, with rehearsals set to start in mid-August.

Performers of all levels of experience are urged to attend the auditions – to be held on Friday July 7 and Saturday July 8 – with the musical, written and directed by award-winning writer/director Sanjeev Dixit, providing the perfect chance for exciting new talent to launch a professional stage career.

“Like the amazing city of Dubai we are open to all ages, all nationalities” said the man behind the musical, leading Dubai social entrepreneur Brian Wilkie.

The only proviso is that people must be 18 or over and must be available to rehearse and perform during work hours on weekdays.

“We are offering up to ten full time professional contracts to talented actors, singers and dancers” continued Wilkie, “So if you’ve ever dreamt of giving up your day job and taking up a life on the stage – here’s your chance.”

Performers successful in the audition process will be offered full-time contracts from August 13th, 2017 including salary, Visa/work permit and Health Insurance.

To register, interested performers should email their contact details and a summary of any relevant experience to dubaimusical@gmail.com by no later than July 3rd.

The first round of auditions will be held as an open call, American Idol style, at Madinat Theatre @ Souq Madinat Jumeirah from 10am to 2pm on Friday July 7th and Saturday July 8th.

If performers are not in Dubai on these dates they should still register as they can be included in later audition dates.

“People are often saying how there are very few professional performing opportunities in Dubai” said the show’s producer Alex Broun, “well here is one that all are welcome to come along to.”

“This is a chance to change your life – so don’t be shy. At the moment you might be working behind the counter at Costa but if you’ve got the talent we don’t care where you are from or what you’ve done in the past.”

“Dubai is a fabulous city of new opportunity so come along to the audition and show us what you’ve got. It could be your first step to becoming a star.”

To register for an audition email dubaimusical@gmail.com by no later than July 3rd.
